BSF kills Bangladeshi cattle trader in Mymensingh border area
A Bangladeshi national was shot dead by India's Border Security Force (BSF) along the Gubrakura border under Haluaghat upazila of Mymensingh last night.
The deceased -- Md Khairul Islam (40) of Gubrakura village in Haluaghat -- was a cattle trader, reports our Mymensingh correspondent.
Md Khairul Islam was injured when a BSF patrol team of India's Gachhuapara area opened fire near the international border pillar 1124 around 8:30pm, according to sources at Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and police.
The incident might have occurred when the victim was crossing the border, said Lt Col Tauhid Mahmud, commanding officer of BGB-39 Battalion, Mymensingh. BGB is looking into the matter, said the commanding officer.
On information, family members and locals rescued and took Khairul to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) where the doctors declared him dead.
The body was sent to MMCH morgue for autopsy, said Md Mahmudul Hasan, officer-in-charge of Haluaghat Police Station.
