Ahle Sunnat protests recognition of Qawmi certificates
Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat today demanded immediate cancellation of the government’s decision that recognised certificates of Dawrae Hadith under Qawmi Madrasa Education Boards equivalent to masters degree.
The leaders and activists of the Islamist group also urged the government to bring Qawmi madrasas under mainstream madrasa board.
They were holding a protest rally in front of Jatiya Press Club this afternoon.

They said the government’s decision is “unjust” as it takes only five to six years for a Qawmi madrasa student to complete the Dawrae Hadith education whereas mainstream and Alia madrasa students need 16 to 17 years to complete their education.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on April 11 announced that Qawmi madrasa students would be given highest academic recognition as masters degree. She came up with the announcement at a meeting with the alems-ulema of the Qawmi Madrasas at her official residence Gono Bhaban in Dhaka.
“Qawmi madrasas are patronised by anti-liberation forces,” said A N M Masud Hussain Al Quaderi, President of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat Dhaka city unit.
