Zac Efron to star in 'Baywatch'
Zac Efron is in talks to join Dwayne Johnson in Paramount's “Baywatch” comedy, which is based on the 1990s TV show.
Seth Gordon will direct the movie jointly scripted by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. Johnson will also produce the pic along with his partner Dany Garcia through their Seven Bucks Productions banner.
Although plot details are currently vague, sources close to the project reveal that the studio is taking a comedic route with the film. Production is expected to start in early 2016.
Efron just wrapped production on the Chernin comedy “Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates” alongside Adam Devine and Anna Kendrick. He can be seen next in the Warner Bros. DJ pic “We Are Your Friends.”
