Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy launches three training workshops

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy has launched three specialised training workshops today, under the management of its Training Department. The inaugural event took place at 10 AM at the academy premises, officially opened by A.F.M. Nurur Rahman, Director of the Training Department.
1. Nazrul Sangeet Workshop: 'Shuddho Bani O Sure'
This workshop focuses on singing Nazrul Sangeet with correct lyrics and melody. It will run daily from 11 AM to 4 PM until April 24, 2025, at the International Digital Cultural Archive room of the National Theatre Hall. Eminent singers Khairul Anam Shakil and Ferdous Ara are leading the sessions. A total of 30 university students are participating.

2. Pot Dance Workshop
A seven-day Pot Dance training workshop also commenced today at the Sculpture Gallery premises behind the National Art Gallery. Running from April 20 to 26, sessions will be held daily from 10 AM to 5 PM. The main trainer is dance expert Nikhil Chandra Das, with 20 dancers from various troupes taking part.

3. Drama Workshop: 'Theatrical Language Through Lathi Khela'
Another significant initiative is the seven-day drama workshop titled 'Theatrical Language Through Lathi Khela', which began today and will run until April 26, 2025, at the National Art Gallery. The workshop is structured into three phases: training, production creation, and performance across three districts.
The course is supervised by Begum Kamrun Nahar, Course Director, and Dr. Irene Parvin Lopa, Course Coordinator. Trainers include Dr. Saidur Rahman Lipon (Rabindra University), Prof. Ahmedul Kabir Yang (University of Dhaka), and two experts from the Bangladesh Lathi Khela Federation. A total of 20 participants from various drama, mime, and dance groups, including theatre students from different universities, are attending.
These workshops reflect the Academy's continued effort to promote traditional arts, theatrical expression, and musical heritage across generations.
