Meghmallar Basu joins final Ducsu campaign in wheelchair
Pratirodh Parshad's general secretary candidate Meghmallar Basu today took early release from hospital and joined last-minute campaigns alongside his fellow contestants in the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) election.
He had been treated in a private hospital for the past five days and underwent multiple surgeries. Initially admitted with acute appendicitis pain, doctors later identified lung complications and cysts.
Today, appearing before the media at Madhur Canteen in a wheelchair, he said he had taken early release from the hospital to join his peers.
"We have already won -- whatever the result would be in the elections on September 9," Meghmallar, also a Chhatra Union leader, told media.
He said that due to their participation in the polls, all the reactionary forces on campus had been compelled to speak in favour of women's rights and against religious divisions at a time when the country is facing mob violence and moral policing.
Meghmallar urged voters to cast their ballots while remembering those who engaged in moral policing against women and violated the rights of minorities.
"If you show up to vote, the anti-liberation forces here won't be able to win even a single post."
