A Hawk advanced trainer jet aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) today crashed in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district.

The trainee pilot managed to eject himself safely but sustained some injuries, reports The Times Of India. He was later taken to hospital.

The aircraft took off from Kalaikunda Air Force station in Kharagpur on a routine training flight before it crashed in Mayurbhanj near the Odisha-Jharkhand border.

An investigation into the incident has been ordered, reports The Times Of India.
