War Crimes: death warrant issued against JP leader Qaisar
The International Crimes Tribunal today issued death warrant against Jatiya Party leader Syed Mohammad Kaisar for crimes against humanity during the Liberation War.
The full verdict of the Supreme Court upholding the death penalty of the former state minister has been received and sent to the office concerned today, said Syed Ahmed, registrar of the ICT.
The death warrant has been sent to Dhaka Central Jail, Keraniganj, Secretaries to the Home Ministry and Law Ministry and District Magistrate.
Qaiser can file a petition seeking review of the death penalty within 15 days.
On January 14, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court upheld the death penalty of the JP leader, awarded by the ICT for his crimes against humanity.
The full verdict of the SC was published yesterday.
On January 23, 2014, the ICT sentenced Qaisar to death for his crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.
