Apple cancels rumoured 2026 iPhone Air plans: report
Apple has cancelled rumoured plans to release a new version of its iPhone Air in the fall of 2026, according to a report from The Information, which cited weak sales of the current model.
The company first launched the iPhone Air in 2025, marketing it as a thinner and lighter alternative to its main flagship iPhones. To achieve its slim design, the model featured compromises, including a smaller battery and less advanced camera features compared to other models in the lineup.
As per a report by Reuters on the matter, analysts state that consumer demand for the iPhone Air has been lower than the company originally anticipated. The device has a particular sales profile in China, where it is sold without a physical SIM tray and relies solely on eSIM connectivity, a feature that only recently received regulatory approval from the country's telecom operators.
Apple has not yet publicly commented on the report regarding the cancellation. The Information cited people familiar with the matter as its source, with Reuters being unable to independently verify the news.
