"If I am assassinated on the road, the president and his chief of staff will be responsible," Ranasinghe said
The ICC Board also confirmed Sri Lanka will no longer host the ICC U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024.
Sri Lanka skipper Kusal Mendis appealed Sunday for the governing International Cricket Council to lift its suspension of the country over alleged political interference in the local board.
"The ICC suspension of Sri Lanka is illegal. We have been maliciously suspended without giving us an opportunity to respond to the allegation," Ranasinghe told reporters in the capital Colombo.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) suspended Sri Lanka's cricket board Friday, saying it had failed to ensure there was no government interference in its affairs.
It was the latest development in a crisis involving the cricket board -- the richest sporting organisation in the bankrupt island country -- that came to a head after Sri Lanka's humiliating World Cup defeat by India last week.
Sri Lanka's Court of Appeal quashed the sports minister's decision to sack the country's crisis-ridden cricket board and restored the expelled officials on Tuesday pending a full hearing.
