Bangladesh will likely have to pay an additional $1.07 billion, or about Tk 13,134 crore, in LNG subsidies during the April–June quarter if global prices remain elevated, according to a new study by a US-based international non-profit.

One of the key measures in this year’s budget is the repeal of the Quick Enhancement of Electricity and Energy Supply (Special Provision) Act, 2010, to enhance transparency.
