The government yesterday banned Jamaat-e-Islami and all its front organisations and entities, including Islami Chhatra Shibir.

The government has announced that it will ban Jamaat-e-Islami and its student front Islami Chhatra Shibir by today for their alleged involvement in the recent “anti-state activities”.

The government is bringing the issue of banning Jamaat-Shibir to distract people from the current situation, said BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir yesterday.

The law minister said discussions will be held today with the home minister to finalise the process for implementing the ban

The Awami League-led 14-party alliance yesterday unanimously recommended that the government ban Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir for their alleged involvement in anti-state activities.
