It is worth mentioning that the Fazlul Haque Memorial Award has been presented for the past 22 years in memory of the late Fazlul Haque, the founding editor of the country’s first film magazine, Cinema and the maker of Bangladesh’s first children’s film, “Son of Pakistan”.
Each year, it recognises distinguished contributions in filmmaking and film journalism, accompanied by a cash prize, certificate and crest.
The award, one of the prominent honours in Bangladeshi cinema, commemorates the legacy of Fazlul Haque, a pioneer of the country’s film journalism and the director of its first children's film, “President”.
This year, director Gias Uddin Selim and film journalist Alauddin Majid have been nominated for the prestigious Fazlul Haque Memorial Award 2024 for their significant contributions to the film industry.
