Vendors sell off salvaged goods at lower price
Vendors at Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) kitchen market today were seen selling off salvaged goods after a fire gutted over 200 shops there this morning.
They were selling mostly metal utensils and crockeries that were either partially damaged or were found intact, reports our staff correspondent from the spot.
Talking to The Daily Star, some of the vendors said that they were selling the salvaged goods as they do not have any place to store those since their shops were destroyed in the fire.
The products were being sold at Tk 150-200 apiece, a much lower price than those are worth, they said.
A fire broke out at the kitchen market early today and gutted around 211 shops. Firefighters later brought the blaze under control around 8:25am and completely doused it around 10:30am.
No casualties were reported in the incident. The damage caused by the fire was yet to be estimated.
