Fans protested in large numbers in front of the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium Gate-1 after failing to secure Bangladesh Premier League match tickets.

Although the 11th edition of the BPL is scheduled to start tomorrow at 1:30 am with Fortune Barishal taking on Dhaka Capital, the tickets are yet to go for sale both online and offline.

Some fans said they waited for hours for physical tickets in front of the stadium but were unable to reach anyone in that regard.

Later, some protesters tried to break Gate-1 of the stadium before Police and Ansar members dispersed them.

There were still reports of protests late into the evening around the BCB headquarters.  

"As it is the first day, we are facing some issues. Hopefully, we will soon come up with a solution," Ali Asaf, member of BCB's ticketing committee, told The Daily Star today.

"30-35% tickets will be sold online. People will need time to get used to online tickets," he said, adding that fans can also purchase tickets from Modhumoti Bank's designated branches.

During a board meeting on October 30, the BCB had agreed in principle to introduce a full-fledged e-ticket system for the 11th edition of the BPL, aiming to streamline the ticketing process for fans.

Later, through a press release, the BCB confirmed that tickets can be purchased online at www.gobcbticket.com.bd.

Meanwhile, the physical tickets will be available from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM today and 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM tomorrow.

5. International Lounge South (Corporate Block): BDT 1,000

6. Club House South (Shaheed Mushtaq Stand): BDT 500

7. Club House North (Shaheed Jewel Stand): BDT 500
