Wadifa suffers opening-round defeat at World Youth Chess Championship

Women's International Master (WIM) Wadifa Ahmed began her campaign at the World Youth Chess Championship with a defeat, losing to Poland's FIDE Master Klara Szczotka in the Girls' Under-18 category in Montesilvano, Italy, on Monday.

Wadifa is scheduled to face Israel's Gabriel Inbal in her second-round match on Tuesday.

A total of 104 players, including eight WIMs from 60 countries, are competing in the Girls' Under-18 section, according to a Bangladesh Chess Federation press release.
