Shashank Manohar has resigned from his post at as the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today, reports said.

Amid the Indian board's legal troubles with the country's Supreme Court in the wake of the Lodha Committee's recommendations to restructure the organisation, Manohar decided to quit.

Another factor which may have influenced his decision may be that the ICC decided last month that its chairman would not be allowed to hold any national or provincial position with any member boards. The election for the ICC chairman will be held later this month through a secret ballot.

Sharad Pawar is being touted as Manohar’s successor in the BCCI.
