IPL: Shakib benched again

The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) opted to keep Bangladesh ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan benched for their second match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2016 today against Mumbai Indians at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Shakib is yet to play his first match in the IPL.

Earlier on April 10, Shakib did not play against Delhi Daredevils in the first match of Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan’s KKR. They won the match by nine wickets at Kolkata.

It comes as a disappoint for Shakib’s fans, especially those in Bangladesh, that Shakib – despite being the No. 1 allrounder in ODIs and No. 2 in Tests and T20Is and having performed well for KKR in the IPL previously – being benched for two consecutive matches.
