Siddikur misses cut
Siddikur Rahman started the new season in the worst possible fashion after missing the cut in the SMBC Singapore Open yesterday. The 31-year-old golfer finished the second round with a four-over-par (75) after having finished the first round with two-over-par (73) at the Sentosa Golf Club earlier in the day.
That took his overall score to six-over-par (148) as the two-time Asian Tour winner missed the cut by five strokes and ended tied for 125th position.
Having settled for an overnight score of par up to the 14 holes in the first round, Siddikur played two consecutive bogeys early to jeopardise his position. He started the second round with a birdie on the second hole, but three bogeys and two double bogeys over the next 10 holes extinguished any chance of survival. He eventually managed to birdie the final hole of the day, but that was a mere consolation.
Younghan Song of Korea had taken the lead at nine-under-par (133) before play was suspended earlier than scheduled, like the previous day, due to inclement weather.
