Sabina stars as Bangladesh down India

By Star Sports Report

A brace from captain Sabina Khatun powered Bangladesh to a winning start in the SAFF Women’s Futsal Championship with an emphatic 3-1 win over India in Bangkok, Thailand, today.

From the outset to the final whistle, the women in red and green were the better side than India, who were helpless to tackle Sabina and Krishna Rani Sarker.

Sabina first broke the deadlock after playing nice one-two passes with Krishna, who set Sabina to strike into an open net on both occasions in the first half.

After the resumption, it was Matsushima Sumaya who did not mistake to take the match away from India from a counter-attack as she found the back of the net with a grounder taken from outside the box.

India finally scored a consolation goal in the latter part of the second half.
