Ritu Porna suffers head injury in open-top bus ride, gets three stitches

Bangladesh women's football team's member Ritu Porna Chakma hurt her head in a collision with an overhead banner during the team's open-top bus parade as the team returned to a hero's welcome on Wednesday.

Ritu Porna, who scored two goals coming off as substitute during the unbeaten campaign in SAFF Women's Championship, needed three stitches to her head, according to a Bangladesh Football Federation official.

Imran Hasan Tushar, the BFF executive who took her to CMH following the accident, told The Daily Star," Ritu Porna had the accident when her head came into contact with an overhead banner in Nikunja in the capital. She needed three stitches on her head at the CMH and is now being taken to the BFF House to join the team in celebration."

The team was given a reception at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the afternoon and were later paraded through the streets of Dhaka on a makeshift open-top bus which travelled to the BFF House in Motijheel following a four-hour journey.
