Irish coach Mark Cox joins Bangladesh U-20 setup as consultant for SAFF C'ship

UEFA A-licensed Irish coach Mark Cox has been appointed as consultant coach of the Bangladesh national under-20 football team ahead of the upcoming SAFF U-20 Championship, scheduled to be held in Maldives from March 23 to April 4.

“He has been appointed for one month as the consultant coach of the Bangladesh U-20 team which will take part in the upcoming SAFF U-20 Championship in Maldives,” Nasser Shahrear Zahedee, vice-president of the Bangladesh Football Federation and chairman of its development committee, told The Daily Star on Friday.

Zahedee added that Cox will travel with head coach Golam Rabbani Choton during the tournament.

“Mark Cox will be travelling with Golam Rabbani Choton during the tournament,” he said. “We will announce our full plan regarding youth development on Sunday as we are evaluating the CVs of four to five coaches, including Cox, to appoint one of them as the youth development coach for one year.”

Cox previously served as a coach developer with the The Football Association of England. He has also worked as an academy manager and gained coaching experience in five different countries.
