BFF ‘earned’ Tk 4 crore from ticket sales
The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) generated Tk 4.05 crore from ticket sales for their three home matches in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers against Singapore, Hong Kong and India, a BFF official claimed on Wednesday.
However, the game's local governing body did not disclose the expenditure for those matches, which were held between June 10 and November 18 at the National Stadium.
"We earned Tk 1.15 crore from the Bangladesh-Singapore match, Tk 1.02 crore from the Bangladesh-Hong Kong match and Tk 1.88 crore from the Bangladesh-India match," said BFF member and media committee chairman Amirul Islam Babu following an executive committee meeting Gulshan on Wednesday.
"This income is solely from ticket sales, no sponsorship money involved," Babu added, noting that journalists can review the expenditure details at the BFF headquarters.
A few agendas of the meeting involved approving the income and expenditure accounts of the three Asian Cup qualifying matches. The BFF also organised two international friendlies against Bhutan and Nepal before the qualifiers, but the federation did not disclose the income or expenditure of those two matches after the meeting.
Babu further informed that the meeting decided to upgrade the Sylhet District Stadium to international standards and seek assistance from FIFA for the project.
Additionally, it was decided that the technical committee's expenditure will be operated through a separate bank account.
Although the meeting had 22 agendas -- including the 2026 football calendar, the start of the women's football league, reforms to the BFF constitution, and the establishment of a FIFA-funded technical centre in Cox's Bazar, Babu said that those issues were not covered due to shortage of time.
