Bangladesh call up US-based Zayyan for Hong Kong matches
US-based left-back Zayyan Ahmed has been drafted into the 28-member preliminary Bangladesh squad for their two matches against Hong Kong in the Asian Cup Qualifiers following his impressive performance for the Under-23 side in the AFC U-23 Asian Cup Qualifiers in Vietnam earlier this month.
The 21-year-old had been in discussion among the coaching staff since he joined the preparation camp for the U-23 side and manager Shahin Hasan had even predicted that Zayyan would get added to the national team before his official debut for Bangladesh U-23 against Vietnam on September 3.

Zayyan is an attacking left-back who often overlaps the left flank to help the forwards, and his attacking prowess is probably what earned him his maiden call up.
Zayyan's inclusion increases the number of overseas-based players in the team to four as Hamza Choudhury, Shamit Shome and Fahamedul Islam are also named in the preliminary squad.
Shakil Ahad Topu, Mehedi Hasan Srabon, Sheikh Morsalin and Al Amin also returned to the squad after missing out from the two friendly matches against Nepal as they were busy playing for the U-23 side in the U-23 Asian Cup Qualifiers.
Forward Arman Faysal Akash was also recalled after being overlooked for the past few international matches.
Issa Faisal, Pappu Hossain, Arif Hossain and Papon Singh, who were part of the Bangladesh squad for the Nepal friendlies, have been excluded from the squad.
Bangladesh are scheduled to play the home match against Hong Kong on October 9 before playing the away match on October 14.
