Ganguly unveils bronze statue of himself
Former India captain and batting great Saurav Ganguly unveiled an eight-foot tall bronze statue of himself. The Calcutta born Ganguly boarded a train for the first time in 15 years to travel to Balurghat.
“I travelled in the train once after 2001. It's been almost after 15 years,” Ganguly said after getting down at Malda from the Padatik express.
The star cricketer and current Cricket advisory committee (CAC) member was cheered and greeted by thousands after he set foot at Bikash Maidan in Balurghat.
Ganguly tweeted from Balurghat ‘At dakhin Dinajpur ..just human heads’.

He posted a photo of himself alongside the statue and wrote: “Looks like me…”
The statue commemorated a young Saurav raising his bat after scoring his first Test century against Australia in the Brisbane Test of 2003.
