We came to win: Rishad
Bangladesh leg-spinner Rishad Hossain said his side were determined to go for the kill before rain forced the second of the three-match T20I series against New Zealand at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui on Friday to be called off.
Najmul Hossain Shanto-led Bangladesh, who won the first T20I in Napier, came into the contest with the hope of sealing a maiden series win (in any format) in New Zealand but rain played spoilsport, allowing only 11 overs to be played.
"We went to the ground to win. We can't do anything about the rain," Rishad said in the post-match press conference.
Playing in only his fifth T2OI, Rishad, who gave away just 10 runs from the three overs he got to bowl, also said the trust shown by the captain and the coach in him motivated the 21-year-old to do better in the upcoming days.
"They've been supporting me a lot, telling me that I can do it. They've placed their trust in me which is increasing my chances of delivering. If the trust is there, I can deliver.," he said.
Asked to bat first earlier on the day, New Zealand managed 72 runs for the loss of two wickets before rain interrupted proceedings.
Bangladesh struck early when opener Kiwi Finn Allen was dismissed by Shoriful Islam after managing two runs in the second over with the hosts on nine for the loss of one.
Tim Seifert smashed a 23-ball 43 before being caught to end his second-wicket partnership of 49 with Daryl Mitchell (18) before rain started to fall.
