Dhaka Capitals captain Thisara Pererra hit the second ton of this BPL after the first was hit by Chittagong King's Usman Khan earlier this afternoon. However Thisara's unbeaten 103 off 60, in chase of Khulna Tigers' 173 for 8, came in vain as his opposite number Mehedi Hasan Miraz had the last laugh as Khulna won by 20 runs.

Khulna Tigers captain Mehedi Hasan Miraz bagged three, conceding just six runs to break the back of the Dhaka Capitals chase. Abu Haider Rony also bagged two wickets in the Powerplay, that off Tanzid Tamim (19) and Shahadat Hossain Dipu (3) to reduce Dhaka to 26 for four.

Miraz picked up Liton Das's wicket in the third over, a soft dismissal which saw the opener depart for two. He would take Stephen Eskinazi and Shubham Ranjane's wickets later to leave Dhaka tottering at 40 for five.

From 40 for 5, Dhaka slumped to 41 for 6 when Alauddin Babu was picked up for naught by Ziaur Rahman.

Thisara played a lone hand while Chaturanga de Silva held up one end but with sixty needed in the last three overs, it was always going to be difficult. Thisara hit nine fours and seven sixes during his knock, stitching together a 112-run stand with Chaturanga.

Thisara was dropped by Bosisto in the 19th over at deep mid-on but that stroke of luck did not matter much in the end. Bosisto came in to bowl the last over, defending 37 runs and two singles off the first two deliveries made a Dhaka win improbable. Thisara however managed a six and a four in the next two deliveries and completed his ton in the final delivery of the innings with another four as Khulna won by 20 runs.

Earlier, Khulna innings was built on acceleration at the top and in the death overs. Opener Mohammad Naim in particular was off to a flying start in the Powerplay, trading in boundaries. He fell to clear the ropes against Chaturanga de Silva in the fifth over and was holed out at deep mid-wicket after a 17-ball 30. Shubham Ranjane then picked up Afif Hossain for 1, out leg-before as Khulna ended Powerplay at 55 for 2.

Dhaka would get a firmer grip on proceedings when Nazmul Islam scalped the key wicket of Ibrahim Zadran.

No real acceleration came when Mehedi Hasan Miraz and Mohammad Nawaz fell cheaply and when opener William Bosisto departed for a 28-ball 26 in the 13th over, Khulna were struggling at 93 for 6.

Hero of their first match Mahidul Islam Ankon and Ziaur Rahman put some wind to Khulna's sails. Ankon hit two massive sixes during a 22-ball 32 while Ziaur contributed 22 off 15 before falling to Mustafizur Rahman.

Abu Haider Rony showed his batting prowess, hitting Ranjane for three sixes while Nasum Ahmed put the last ball away for four in a 23-run last over as Khulna scored 66 runs in the last five overs to reach 173 for 8.

All seven bowlers used by Dhaka bagged a wicket each. Mustafizur remained the most economical of the bowlers, conceding 19 runs for a wicket.
