Former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal fell ill after the toss of a Dhaka Premier League (DPL) match between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Shinepukur Cricket Club at BKSP and has been hospitalised in Savar.

Match referee Debabrata Paul, who is at the hospital with Tamim, confirmed The Daily Star that the Mohammedan captain fell sick and is currently admitted to a hospital. A BCB director also told The Daily Star that the opener got admitted due to chest pain.

"Nafees Iqbal and his mother are here now. The doctors did an angiogram. Out of his two arteries, one is 100 percent blocked another is partially blocked," said Debabrata.

The doctors at the hospital told The Daily Star that a stent has been placed in the coronary artery and Tamim has been shifted to the CCU. But the opener is still not out of danger.

The officials had originally planned to fly Tamim to a hospital in Dhaka via helicopter but decided to admit him to Fazilatunnesa Hospital near BKSP after his condition worsened.

The BCB had a board of directors meeting scheduled today at 12:00 pm but it has been cancelled as top board officials are rushing to the hospital in Savar.
