Shakib delivers in Super Over thriller in LPL

Bangladesh Test and T20I skipper Shakib Al Hasan delivered an all-round display in Galle Titans' thrilling super-over win against Dambulla Aura at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Monday. 

The left-handed batter came in at five in the first innings after Galle were put into bat and put away two sixes and a four for a 14-ball 23-run knock before Pakistan's Shahnawaz Dahani castled him as Galle posted 180 for five.

Left-handed batter Bhanuka Rajapaksa scored a 34-ball 48, and skipper Dasun Shanaka smashed four sixes and two fours for his 21-ball 42 to propel Galle beyond 150.

Shanaka came back to take three wickets with the ball and had able support from Shakib, who remained economical, taking the wicket of Sadeera Samarawickrama giving away just 25 runs from his four overs. 

Dambulla's Dhananjaya de Silva and Kusal Perera scored 43 and 40 respectively to take their side on the brink of victory.

With 16 runs required off the last over, Alex Ross managed to take Kasun Rajitha for 15 runs which ended the contest in a draw, taking the proceedings to an enthralling super over which Galle managed to clinch.

Galle's Rajapaksa chased down 10 runs to win their first match of the tournament.
