Salahuddin, Ashraful continue as BCB stays confident in coaching setup
Senior assistant coach Mohammad Salahuddin and specialised batting coach Mohammad Ashraful will continue in their roles as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) expressed satisfaction with the current coaching setup.
The BCB had earlier on November 5 announced that Salahuddin submitted his resignation to the board CEO and was expected to leave after the Test and T20I series against Ireland.
"We have discussed the matter verbally. He [Mohammad Salahuddin] will continue his contract until it expires after the ICC World Cup 2027," BCB's cricket operations chairman Nazmul Abedeen Fahim told The Daily Star on Thursday.
Salahuddin was appointed senior assistant coach in November 2024. He previously served as assistant coach and fielding coach for the Bangladesh national team from 2006 to 2010 and also worked as a specialist coach at the BCB National Cricket Academy from 2010 to 2011.
Fahim emphasised the board's contentment with the current coaching structure ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka in February-March. "Those who are currently working will continue. We will keep monitoring, and if necessary, we may add someone. But we are happy with how everything is going now," he said, adding that Ashraful, who was appointed as specialised batting coach during the recent Ireland series, will continue in his role.
Bangladesh recently won the Test series 2-0 and the T20I series 2-1 against Ireland
