Riyad among many to attend specialised batting coaching course

Bangladesh all-rounder Mahmudullah Riyad is one of six active cricketers set to attend a three-day specialised batting coaching course, arranged by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), starting tomorrow in Mirpur. Mahmudullah has retired from international cricket but continues to play in the domestic circuit.
The coaching course will be conducted by Australian tutors Ashley Ross and Ian Renshaw. A group of 20 BCB coaches will also participate in the programme.
"Two of the tutors -- Ashley Ross and Ian Renshaw -- have already arrived in Dhaka. There will be six current players attending the batting coaching programme: Mahmudullah, Shamsur Rahman Shuvo, Naeem Islam, Farhad Hossain, Fazle Rabbi, and Marshall Ayub," BCB's High Performance Unit manager Shahriar Nafees told The Daily Star on Tuesday.
"The coaching course will be entirely batting-focused. The three-day course will end on September 12," he added.
The batting programme will be followed by a Level 3 coaching course, scheduled for September 15-19. Foreign trainers Ross Turner, Natasha Campbell, Allan Campbell, and Geoff Lawson, along with BCB president Aminul Islam Bulbul, will conduct the course, where around 30 participants are expected to take part.
Meanwhile, renowned umpire Simon Taufel is set to arrive in Dhaka on September 13. The BCB has recently secured his services on a two-year contract. He is expected to work on structural reform, evaluation procedures, assessment methods, and the preparation of new trainers for the future.
Taufel will also assess on-field umpiring and is expected to be available throughout the National Cricket League T20, scheduled between September 14 and October 3.
