No Fortune Barishal as 10 franchises submit EOI for BPL

Fortune Barishal will not be taking part in the upcoming edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), while 10 interested parties have submitted their Expressions of Interest (EOI) to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for franchise ownership on the final day of submission.

BPL governing council member secretary Iftekhar Rahman Mithu confirmed the development to reporters at the BCB premises.

The BCB had outlined 10 potential franchise regions: Barishal, Chattogram, Cumilla, Dhaka, Khulna, Mymensingh, Noakhali, Rajshahi, Rangpur, and Sylhet.

Among the 10 interested franchises, Rangpur Riders, Dhaka Capitals, Khulna Tigers, and Chittagong Kings were the only teams that featured in the BPL last season.

Rangpur Riders will continue under Bashundhara Group, while Walton and Remark Harlan have submitted applications for the Dhaka Capitals franchise rights. Desh Travels has applied for the ownership of the Rajshahi Kings franchise.

Despite their previous financial disputes with the BCB, Chittagong Kings have also expressed interest in continuing, with SQ Sports applying for their ownership rights.
