Gunmen attack Naseem Shah’s house

Unidentified armed men opened fire on the house of Pakistan cricketer Naseem Shah in the Mayar area of Lower Dir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in the early hours of Monday, police and local residents confirmed.

According to Mayar Police, the attack took place around 1:45am, when gunmen fired multiple rounds at the main gate of Shah's residence, leaving visible bullet marks. The assailants fled immediately after the firing.

Police have registered a case and launched a full-scale investigation into the incident. CCTV footage from nearby houses is being reviewed, and additional security personnel have been deployed around the cricketer's home.

Initial police reports suggest that the attack does not appear to be linked to terrorism. Authorities believe the motive may stem from a local land dispute or personal enmity.

Naseem's father met with District Police Officer Taimur Khan, who assured the family that those responsible would be arrested soon. Local residents described the Shah family as well-respected and said they were unaware of any ongoing disputes involving them.

Despite the incident, Pakistan fast bowler Naseem Shah will remain with the national squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi, starting Tuesday. ESPNcricinfo reported that the incident will not affect his participation in the series or the subsequent T20I tri-series involving Zimbabwe later this month.

It remains unclear whether any of Naseem's younger brothers — Hunain and Ubaid, both professional cricketers — were present at the residence during the attack.
