Chattogram likely to host third India ODI
With India set to arrive in Bangladesh on December 01 to take part in an ODI and Test series against the hosts, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) are considering the possibility of shifting the third and final ODI of the series from Dhaka to Chattogram.
All three ODIs -- scheduled to be played on December 4, 7, and 10, respectively -- were supposed to take place at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium (SNBS) in Mirpur. However, since the first of the two match Test series will take place on December 14 at Chattogram's Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, shifting the third ODI to Chattogram will be convenient. Following the first Test, the two teams will return to Dhaka for the second and final Test of the series, starting from December 22.
"There are talks over shifting the third ODI from Dhaka to Chattogram. We will inform once it's confirmed within a couple of days," Jalal Yunus, BCB's cricket operation chairman, told The Daily Star on Sunday.
Another possible reason to shift the venue is to allow the Mirpur pitch to remain fresh as there are concerns of low-scoring encounters if the SNBS hosts three matches in a short span of time.
The national players are currently taking part in the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) one-day format as part of preparation ahead of the upcoming India series. The selectors are expected to announce the squad this week.
