Bashar switches to game development from women's wing

Former Bangladesh captain Habibul Bashar will see a change in landscape as the former selector, one year since taking over the role as head of the women's wing, will switch over to Bangladesh Cricket Board's (BCB) game development department.
BCB on Monday held the 18th board meeting of the directors, and the decision to give Basher game development's programme coordinator role was made during the meeting.
Last year in February, the board had made wholesale changes to the selection panel, with Gazi Ashraf Hossain Lipu replacing Minhajul Abedin as chief selector and Hannan Sarkar replacing Bashar in the selection panel.
In February, BCB announced Bashar in the new role in the women's wing, and the former Bangladesh captain had been serving in that role before his switch to a new territory this year.
BCB's game development works with U-19 and other age-level cricketers, and Bashar said that he always had an interest in working in game development.
"I have expressed interest in working in game development and HP too when I was selector, so the interest was always there," Bashar told The Daily Star on Monday regarding the new role.
During the meeting, the board also discussed central contracts and contracts of national team coaches.
BCB gave a press release on the major outcomes from the meeting, while other developments await approval.
The board has approved the formation of the BCB Welfare Trust and the trustee members. The contract of 100 first-class cricketers for 2025 has also been approved.
In the women's wing department, former national athlete and Olympian Fouzia Huda Jui has been appointed the Tigresses' strength and conditioning coach.
In another major development, the international cricket stadium at Purbachal, currently an ongoing project, has been renamed National Cricket Ground (NCG).
