Mohammedan Sporting Club and Abahani Limited secured their first wins in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) today with dominant performances against Rupganj Tigers and Gulshan Cricket Club, respectively.

Meanwhile, Partex Sporting Club pulled off a high-scoring run-chase against Prime Bank, thanks to a stunning knock from Alauddin Babu.

Mohammedan secure comfortable win

Mohammedan's spin duo, Taijul Islam and Mehedi Hasan Miraz, put the brakes on Rupganj Tigers, each claiming two wickets to restrict them to 222 for 9.
Despite losing Tamim Iqbal (14) and Rony Talukder (36) early in the chase, Mohammedan remained unfazed.
There was anticipation surrounding the appearance of Mohammedan's Mushfiqur Rahim at the crease. He had received a guard of honor from his teammates at the start of the match after the 37-year-old announced his retirement hours earlier. However, he was not required as Mahidul Islam Ankon played a steady hand (81 off 97 balls), while Towhid Hridoy provided the fireworks with a 47-ball 74 to guide Mohammedan to a comfortable seven-wicket win at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Abahani dominate Gulshan Cricket Club

At BKSP-4, Abahani posted a formidable total of 323 for 6, courtesy of a 124-ball 126 by Parvez Hossain Emon. Mohammad Mithun (72) and Mosaddek Hossain (35) also played complementing hands, while Mahfuzur Rabbi provided the finishing touches with an unbeaten 28 off 14 balls.
Abahani's bowlers then made light work of Gulshan Cricket Club's batting lineup. Left-arm spinner Rakibul Hasan scalped four wickets for 40 runs, while Mrittunjoy Chowdhury picked up three wickets to bundle out Gulshan for 161, handing Abahani a dominant 162-run win.

Alauddin's blitz seals thrilling win for Partex

At BKSP-3, Partex Sporting Club pulled off a dramatic three-wicket win against Prime Bank, chasing down a target of 300. Prime Bank, led by Shahadat Hossain Dipu (64) and Shamim Hossain Patwary (69), had posted 299 for 8.

Needing 81 runs from the last eight overs, Alauddin Babu turned the game on its head with a match-winning knock. He took apart Prime Bank's death-over specialist Hasan Mahmud, taking him 28 runs in the 44th over. Alauddin remained unbeaten on 78 off just 32 balls, an innings laced with five fours and seven towering sixes. He finished the chase in style, scoring 16 runs in Hasan's final over to seal a spectacular win for Partex Sporting Club.
