‘Pakistan nowhere near India’s league’ – says Manjrekar

The cricket world is eagerly waiting for the high-voltage India-Pakistan match that is set to take place at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

The match has a lot at stake tournament-wise too as a defeat to India would mean that host Pakistan would not be able to qualify for the knockout phase, after having lost their opening game against New Zealand in Karachi.

However, former India cricketer and current commentator Sanjay Manjrekar does not seem too keen for the match as he feels it would be a one-sided game as Pakistan don't have the ammunition to test an Indian side that is firing on all cylinders.

"Pakistan is nowhere near to India's league. India have dominated them right throughout in recent times, and this time, Pakistan look even weaker, but that hasn't done anything to take the shine off the battle," Manjrekar said while commentating in Hindi during the match between Afghanistan and South Africa yesterday.

"You need spinners to succeed in these conditions and Pakistan only have one specialist spinner in Abrar Ahmed. They will bowl Salman Agha or Khushdil Shah but that won't be enough to trouble the Indian batters. Pace won't be able to have much of an impact," he said.

Unlike Pakistan, India began their campaign with a win, a six-wicket victory over Bangladesh, and a win against their arch rivals would help them punch their ticket to the semifinals.
