Chess teams lose
Bangladesh men's chess team dropped 25 places to 51st position after losing by 05-3.5 points against Germany in the sixth round of the 42nd Chess Olympiad in Baku, Azerbaijan on Tuesday. GM Ziaur Rahman, GM Enamul Hossain Razib and GM Abdullah Al Rakib lost their respective boards while GM Niaz Murshed, who is having a brilliant campaign, managed to draw his board.
Bangladesh were scheduled to take on lowly-ranked UAE in the seventh round on Wednesday night.
The women's team, meanwhile, continued their poor form after losing by 1.5-2.5 points against Moldova. WFM Shirin Sharmin Sultana won her board while WFM Nazrana Khan Eva drew hers while Bangladesh lost the other two boards.
