Nurul's blows secure Sylhet's second win
Last-over heroics from 23-year all-rounder Nurul Hasan give Sylhet a four-wicket victory over Comilla Victorians at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
Sylhet Sixers openers Upul Tharanga and Andre Fletcher were once again in fine touch as the duo put up a 50-run stand in just 32 deliveries at the start of their chase of 146.
Things were looking dim for the Comilla Victorians as the openers looked to take the game away from the Comilla side just as they had done the previous night against Dhaka Dynamites with a 125-run stand.
Dwayne Bravo removed Fletcher in the ninth over with the score on 73 to break the opening stand.
After Fletcher's departure, the next six overs brought just 31 runs and Sixers lost two more wickets, including the key wicket of Upul Tharanga in the 14th over. Tharanga fell after a 40-ball 51, an innings which contained two sixes and five fours.
Nasir Hossain, who found it hard to get going was out stumped after being bamboozled by Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan in the 17th over.
Dwayne Bravo removed Shuvagata Hom in the first delivery of the 20th over with Sixers needing a further 10 runs for victory. However, Nurul Hasan smacked Bravo over long on and man in the deep could not keep the ball from going for six. Nurul then edged Bravo down third man to notch the required runs in the penultimate ball of the over.
Earlier, some lusty hitting from West Indies star Marlon Samuels saw Comilla Victorians post 145 for six against Sylhet Sixers.
In the absence of icon player and captain Tamim Iqbal, Comilla Victorians handed over captaincy to Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi.
Nasir-led Sylhet won the toss and decided to field first in their second game of the BPL Sylhet-leg.
Samuels fell in the last over after a 47-ball 60, a handy knock which allowed the Comilla innings to gain momentum.
Sylhet openers Liton Das and Imrul Kayes started brightly for Comilla before Sixers captain Nasir Hossain took the scalp of Imrul Kayes, who dragged a Nasir delivery onto his stumps.
Liton Das and Jos Butler followed Kayes in quick succession as both fell prey to Taijul islam who finished with figures of 22 for 2 from four overs.
Sixers were 44 for 3 in just 7.1 overs when Samuels and Alok Kapali took the reigns.
Alok Kapali introduced some big hits to the Comilla innings when he struck two sixes and a four in his 19-ball 26 before perishing to Krishmar Santokie.
The innings gained momentum when Samuels went after the bowling after the 14th over. He reached 24 from the first 29 deliveries he faced, but in the next 18 deliveries he picked up 36 runs that took the Comilla score to 145 after 20 overs.
