Mominul leaps 11 places in ICC rankings

Bangladesh batsman Mominul Haque, who struck two tons in Bangladesh's last two Test matches, has climbed up the ICC rankings ladder after the latest changes in the Test rankings for batsmen.

Mominul struck 161 against Zimbabwe in the second Test as the Tigers levelled the series. Then he went on to strike a valuable 120 against West Indies, made more valuable in hindsight because of the low-scoring playing surface at Chattogram, where 40 wickets fell in less than three days.

Mominul also matched Virat Kohli Kohli's record of most tons scored by a batsman in 2018 after his ton against West Indies. While Mominul's accomplishment landed him in career-best 24th place in the ICC rankings, Bangladesh bowler Taijul Islam also attained his career-best ranking among Test bowlers, climbing to 22nd place.

Taijul bagged 18 wickets in the recently concluded series against Zimbabwe before taking seven wickets in the second Test against West Indies at Chattogram. Meanwhile Mushfiqur Rahim, who had struck a double ton -- one that helped him leap 13 places in the rankings -- dropped four places down to 22nd after getting out to low scores in the first Test against West Indies.

South Africa's Kagiso Rabada returned to the top spot in the Test bowlers' rankings, moving above James Anderson, who sat out the third Test against Sri Lanka.
