It was wrong to think only of myself: Mominul
Bangladesh Cricket League's top scorer for the first three rounds, Mominul Haque says that he is not thinking of big scores because that would mean he is only playing for himself.
Mominul struck 382 runs in the first three rounds with an average of 71.26 with two tons to his name in this year's editions. The cricketer missed the fourth round because he was performing Umrah.
Asked if he was thinking of becoming the highest scorer in the remaining two rounds, the cricketer replied: No, that won't be in my mind. Whenever you are thinking of becoming the top-scorer it will mean that you are playing for yourself. I used to think like that in the past, it was wrong and I understand that now.
With two more rounds to go, Mominul's East Zone (Bangladesh) are just two points behind table-toppers North Zone. Although they have drawn all four of their matches, their haul of 39 points have come mainly from bonus points gained through first innings lead. Mominul team faces North Zone in the next game at Mirpur's Sher-e-Bangla Stadium on April 17.
"I think it will be a competitive. The match in Mirpur will be very competitive. There will be excitement in relation to that match."
