Chandimal sees a result in Dhaka pitch
Sri Lanka skipper Dinesh Chandimal feels that the Mirpur wicket will bring a result even as it looked similar to the Chittagong wicket.
"When you look at this pitch, definitely there will be a result. The pitch looks dry. Spinners will definitely come into play. It is challenging for both teams. It won't be like Chittagong.
"I don't see that much of a difference in the wicket. It looks similar," Chandimal opined.
The dry nature of the pitch means that cracks are likely to appear as the match wears on, something that might have led Chandimal to conclude that spinners will play a crucial role and enable a result in the match. Earlier, Bangladesh skipper Mahmudullah Riyad had also suggested that the pitch would be a challenge for the batsmen and Chandimal was of the same opinion.
"We saw in the tri-series that they were really bad pitches. It was good for the spinners but not for the batters. It is a challenge to the batters. It looks like a dry surface. Spinners will come into play in this game," Chandimal concluded.
