'Well known' coach to join Tigers in April
Bangladesh Cricket Board [BCB] president Nazmul Hassan informed that the board has finalised the head coach, who is expected to take charge by the first week of April. The BCB boss was, however, not willing to reveal the name of the coach even though he claimed it is a high profile name.
"We have finalised our head coach who is expected to join the Bangladesh team by the first week of April. At the moment I am not going to disclose the name but I can say that he is a well known figure, not someone unknown like Chandika Hathurusingha," Hassan, who arrived in Sri Lanka yesterday night, told reporters at the Taj Samudra hotel in Colombo.
Hassan, who was joined by the members of the team for a dinner at the hotel, urged the cricketers to play without any pressure.
Hathurusingha resigned from the head coach's position midway through the tour of South Africa in September last year. Richard Pybus and Phil Simmons have, in the meantime, given interviews to BCB, but the board did not show much interest in either candidate due to an apparent lack of interest from the cricketers.
Bowling coach Courtney Walsh has been given the role of interim head coach for the Nidahas Trophy.
