Day 5 washed out, match drawn
The rain-affected 1st Test of the series between Bangladesh and South Africa at Chittagong petered out to a soggy draw when overnight and morning showers forced the umpires to call off play for day 5.
Unremitting monsoon showers from early morning of Saturday delayed the start of day earlier.
The weather forecast is not promising at all as far the game is concerned, with heavy thundershowers predicted throughout the day according to Accuweather.
With two innings left on a wicket that hasn't deteriorated much, the match -- according to the current scenario which sees South Africa trailing by 17 runs with ten wickets in hand in the third innings -- is headed for a draw.
Bangladesh may have enjoyed this Test match, by dominating large parts of the game, for the first time against South Africa, a team that had annihilated our Tigers in all the previous Tests.
However, the seasonal impact of nature turned out to have the last laugh in the 1st Test match of the 2-game series, the next Test scheduled to begin a few days later on July 30 is also under the threat of inclement weather at Mirpur, Dhaka.
