Bangladesh win historic series against India
Bangladesh thumped India by six wickets in the second game of the 3-match ODI series to win their first bilateral series against their Asian cricketing neighbour.
With Mustafizur’s six wickets earlier in the innings, Bangladesh restricted India to 200 after rain interrupted play for nearly two hours.
Mustafizur Rahman took eleven wickets in his first two ODI matches, a world record the left-handed pacer from Satkhira would be proud of.
Shikhar Dhawan was the highest scorer for India with a well-made 53. MS Dhoni supported him with 47 runs to his name.
After steady partnerships from top of the order, Bangladesh coasted to the target after Shakib Al Hasan and Sabbir Rahman took on the Indian bowlers.

Shakib was unbeaten on 51, played 62 balls and hammered five boundaries in his match-winning knock.
Soumya Sarkar, Litton Das and Mushfiqur Rahim all got starts and were dismissed in the thirties.
Dhawal Kulkarni, R Ashwin and Axar Patel claimed a wicket each when Bangladesh were batting.
After an enterprising 50-stand with Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim became the fourth wicket to fall for Bangladesh when he was run-out for 31 runs.
Mushfiqur failed to beat a bullet-throw from the deep and quick-thinking by wicketkeeper Dhoni as the Indian player deflected the ball between his legs on to the stumps.
Bangladesh wicketkeeper faced 34 balls and smashed three 4s and a six in his cameo.
Litton Das was the third Bangladeshi batsman to fall in chase of 200 when India’s Axar Patel dismissed the right-hander with a descent delivery.
Litton looked good at the crease and scored 36 runs from 41 balls. He smashed five boundaries in his innings.
After a handy 50-run partnership with Litton Das, Soumya Sarkar was beaten by Ashwin’s quicker, flatter delivery and was found in front of the wickets.
Soumya steadied the innings with Litton after Tamim’s departure, and scored 34 runs from 47 balls with two 4s and a six.
Tamim Iqbal was the first Bangladesh batsman to return to the pavilion. He scored 13 runs before being dismissed by India’s Dhawal Kulkarni.
Bangladesh openers Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar began sensibly in their chase of 200 from 47 overs, and managed to score 34 runs in their partnership.
Earlier, Rubel Hossain picked up the last wicket for Bangladesh to book India for 200 runs in the second game of the 3-match ODI series at the home of Tigers.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar gloved a rising delivery from Rubel to return to the pavilion for three runs.
Mustafizur claimed his sixth wicket of the match with the last ball of his ten-over spell right after play resumed after rain delay.
The Bangladeshi pacer's in-swinging delivery was too good for Jadeja as the batsman played across the line and paid the ultimate price.
Jadeja was the ninth man down for his team. He scored 19 runs from 26 balls.
After rain interrupted play, match officials decided to curtail the match to 47 overs per side.
Mustafizur wrecked the Indian batting lineup with two wickets in two balls, sending back Axar Patel the ball after dismissing Dhoni.
Axar jabbed at a length ball but was struck in front of the stumps.
Nearly 25,000 people at Mirpur stood up to cheer the young Bangladeshi fast bowler as he was on a hat-trick.
Ms Dhoni’s scrappy knock was finally stopped at 47 after Mustafizur’s well disguised slower off-cutter fooled the batsman to hit early.
Mustafizur’s smart variation brought Dhoni’s demise as the batsman was beaten all ends up.
Indian captain faced 75 balls and struck three fours in his knock.
Mustafizur came back late in the innings to give Bangladesh a vital breakthrough, ending the Raina-Dhoni resistance at 53 runs.
Raina was caught behind for 34 runs. He played 55 balls and struck three boundaries during his stay at the wicket.
Mustafizur captured his second wicket of the match after his success in his first over.
Suresh Raina and captain MS Dhoni consolidated after the quick blows inflicted by Rubel and Nasir to leave India reeling.
Both the batsmen saw out the good balls and picked the ones and twos to keep the scoreboard ticking.
Rubel Hossain struck soon after Nasir with the prized wicket of Ambati Rayudu for a duck.
Rubel’s shortish ball outside the off-stump was cut fiercely by Rayudu, but his wrong shot-selection spooned the ball to Nasir at point.
Nasir picked up his second wicket of the match with his offies when he beat Dhawan in the flight and took his edge.
Dhawan was superbly caught behind by Litton Das for a well-made 53. The Indian opener faced 60 balls and struck seven 4s.
Nasir Hossain’s golden arm with the ball produced an important breakthrough against the run of play when India were in the ascendency.
He sent back Virat Kohli with a fast off-break that found the Indian batsman plumb in front of the wickets.
Kohli got a start in this match, scored 23 runs from 27 balls with three 4s and a six in his brief innings.
Indian batsmen Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli weathered the early storm from a disciplined Bangladesh bowling attack and settled in nicely at the wicket.
They brought up their 50-run partnership by the ninth over of the match.
Mustafizur Rahman rocked India early by sending back their opening batsman Rohit Sharma in the first over of the match.
Rohit drove loosely at a length ball away from the body, and ended up slicing it to point for a duck.
Nasir Hossain took an athletic catch to ensure Mustafizur was rewarded for his effort.
The hosts have been beaten India just four times, including the 79-run victory on Thursday.
The three other wins - 2004, 2007 and 2012 - came sporadically and only one of those was in a bilateral series.
India were ultimately knocked out of the 2007 World Cup, and failed to make the final of the 2012 Asia Cup following the other two defeats.
Bangladesh will want to introduce India to Banglawash, or the other term finding popularity nowadays Banglabash.
This is what the Bangladesh newspapers said the morning after the first ODI.
What will the headlines be like tomorrow?
