BruTown Café Baily Road's Youngest Eatery

If you have ever lived in Baily Road, you would know that this is one area where you can never stay hungry.

We could take you on short trips to all the shops and carts available here but if you asked us for a place with proper coffee and legit burger patties, we would stare blankly at your face and politely ask you to go somewhere north.

But that was until a small café named BruTown Café opened up right in the heart of Baily Road and welcomed us all with great coffee and a guaranteed good time with friends and family. "It's a café by day, restaurant by night. It's a lifestyle where you can come in and do your work, set up meetings or gather for a chat," says Sabeel Rahman, CEO and Proprietor of BruTown.

As a faithful food enthusiast, I visited BruTown with my friends a few days after it opened. As I walked in, I was greeted with a strange familiarity that immediately made me like the place. The warm orange lights felt soothing and I almost jumped when I noticed the bookshelf right beside the entrance. Books and coffee with cosy chairs and great ambience, what else does the human mind need?

At BruTown, everything comes in good proportions and wallet-friendly prices. The menu has brief descriptions of each food item which makes it really easy to choose from an array of drinks and main courses. My friends and I took the Crispy Calamari Rings and the Prawn Tempura as appetizers. Both were super crispy and fluffy. The calamari came with garlic mayonnaise and a chef's special chilli sauce that were to die for.

Among the main courses, we ordered the Grilled Chicken, Shepherd's Pie, Chicken Mushroom Cannelloni and the Classic Beef Burger. As soon as I dipped my spoon into the bowl of Shepherd's Pie, I think I felt a piece of my heart melt like melted cheese on the pie. The thick layers of cheese, mashed potatoes and minced beef created firecrackers on my palette but I think I would have liked a little more beef to cut down the richness of the potatoes. The grilled chicken was so juicy and spicy my friend almost declared it as the best she'd ever had. BruTown's Chicken Mushroom Cannelloni priced at Tk. 270 is an absolutely beautiful dish. The moment you taste it, you're going to be surprised by how well-crafted and balanced this pasta sheet filled and rolled with mushroom and cheese is. Lastly, the Classic Beef Burger is one with a legit beef patty (one that Baily Road's never had) smothered in cheese and cooked to perfection.

Their coffee is from North End and needless to say, it tastes just right. The brownie priced at only Tk. 80 is one I would grab any time all time. They have a good range of mocktails and shakes too - do try the Goa Lemon when you go.

BruTown holds on to the quintessential essence of Baily Road that screams young blood and happy tummies. Would definitely go back and strongly recommend.
