SCC polls: JP pledges support for AL candidate

Main opposition Jatiya Party (JP) today pledged support for the Awami League mayor candidate of Sylhet city polls Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran.

They will start campaigning for the mayor candidate in the city from today, our Sylhet correspondent reports quoting Yahya Chowdhury, JP vice chairman (central).

Yahya Chowdhury, also a lawmaker, made the announcement at the conference room of a hotel in Sylhet city.

ATU Taj Rahman, presidium member of the party, and local AL leaders were also present at the programme.

The Sylhet City Corporation polls are scheduled to be held on July 30.

Ariful Haque Chowdhury, running mayor of the city is contesting under the banner of BNP.
