Rizvi, Falu charged with vandalism

Dhaka Metropolitan Police today pressed charges against 42 BNP leaders and activists including Rizvi Ahmed and Mosaddak Ali Falu in a vandalism case.

Rafiqul Islam Miah, Amanullah Aman, Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, Maruf Kamal Khan, among others, have been named in the charge sheet.

According to the case filed with Mirpur Police Station under the Special Powers Act, the BNP men allegedly exploded crude bombs and vandalised a bus in the Mirpur area on January 28 this year.

Twelve BNP men including Rizvi, and Falu are now in jail while the rest are now on the run.

Rafiqul Islam, a sub-inspector (SI) of Mirpur police placed the charge sheet before the chief of metropolitan magistrate court of Dhaka. The IO appealed to the court to issue the arrest warrant against them.

The court fixed May 5 for the next hearing of the case.
