Khaleda ‘observing steps to create congenial atmosphere’

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is observing whether the government and Election Commission are working on creating a congenial atmosphere for all candidates in the upcoming Dhaka and Chittagong city corporation elections.
Ruhul Amin Gazi, acting convener of Bangladesh Sammilita Peshajibi Parishad, a pro-BNP platform for professionals, quoted the BNP chief as saying.
“BNP is yet to decide on extending its support to the candidates,” he said after emerging from an over hour-long meeting with Khaleda at her Gulshan office this evening.
Shawkat Mahmud, an adviser to the BNP chief, was among the nine-member delegation of the platform that met Khaleda at 7:40pm.
