Kader Siddique joins Tangail by-poll
Krishak Shramik Janata League President Abdul Kader Siddique has joined the November 10 by-election to Tangail-4 constituency.
The parliamentary seat felt vacant following the resignation of sacked minister Abdul Latif Siddique on September 1 who was elected lawmaker on the ticket of the ruling Awami League.
Kader Siddique, his wife Nasrin Kader Siddique, the party’s joint secretary Ikbal Hossain Siddique and its Kalihati upazila unit president Hasmat Ali submitted their nomination papers to the assistant returning officer’s office at Kalihati upazila this afternoon.
A total of 10 leaders from different political parties have so far submitted their nomination papers to contest the by-poll. However, no candidate from BNP has taken part in the election.
Today is the last date for submission of nomination papers and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is October 21.
Over 2.77 lakh voters are entitled to exercise their franchise in the constituency.
Latif Siddique was expelled from the ruling Awami League and the cabinet for his “anti-religion remarks” made in the US in September last year.
