Jamaat denies reports of its men joining IS

Jamaat-e-Islami today denounced allegations that its grassroots activists were joining in the cause of Islamic State – terming such accusations “baseless and false”.
“I want to inform clearly that no grassroots Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami activists joined IS,” said Hamidur Rahman Azad, member of Jamaat’s central executive committee.
His comments came following reports in an online-based newspaper that alleged that Jamaat’s grassroots activists had pledged allegience to the Islamic State.
“What the so-called IS chief of Bangladesh said in his speech that grassroots Jamaat activists are joining IS, is totally baseless and false,” he said in a press release.
